He knows his stuff, but his lectures are extremely boring and dry. He also has zero leniency in his syllabus, so if you get sick for more than three days or have a family emergency, your participation grade is tanked. Tests are difficult and he doesn't answer any clarifying questions during the test. Not the worst professor, but avoid if you can.BIOL3405 2026-01-26 21:12:16 +0000 UTC
Prof. Bunce is kind, caring and very knowledgeable who genuinely wants students to succeed. The course has 3 open response exams (lowest weighted less), 6 reflection articles (lowest dropped) and poll everywhere attendance with 2 drops. If you put in the work, you'll do well.PSYC4512 2025-12-18 02:17:17 +0000 UTC
I wouldn't encourage people to take this class unless necessary. Lectures are uninformative but mandatory. I had to teach myself the content before each exam. Incredibly harsh grader and gives no extra credit. Grade is 3 exams and 6 reflections. He's a nice guy, but this class was unnecessarily hard. @BNS students: take a different BNS core.BIOL4512 2025-12-01 20:36:09 +0000 UTC
Dr. Bunce is great! Exams are extremely fair; mostly all content comes from lectures, and pay attention to what he says (and not just the words on the slides). You don't really need the textbook content for the exams, maybe 1 or 2 questions (I would still skim it though). I personally enjoyed his lectures. Learned lots of useful information.PSYC3200 2024-04-27 00:38:36 +0000 UTC
He is really fun and a generous grader. He tends to go on tangents during lecture but they are usually pretty interesting. His office hours are super helpful.BIOL2299 2024-01-10 02:52:53 +0000 UTC
Dr. Bunce reads from a slidedeck, resulting in boring, monotonous lectures. On the bright side, his tests are an easy 50 MCQs that are pulled straight from the slides. I would take him again for the class, even if it is a little boring.BIOL3458 2024-01-07 21:52:37 +0000 UTC
- lectures can sometimes be boring and material is made more complicated than necessary - exams are not too hard if you put in the effort and study (taken from slides and lecture) - material is interesting and he is very clear when communicating the material - Good prof. and if your willing to put in some effort you will do in the classPSYC3458 2023-11-28 19:49:49 +0000 UTC
Prof. Bunce is great! He knows his stuff and is clearly into what he teaches. He is super organized and has very clear expectations- great class would take one with him again :)BIOL4709 2021-04-12 19:32:57 +0000 UTC
One of my favorite professors at Northeastern. Material can be tricky but he is a very fair grader and not hard to do well in his class as long as you study before exams. Everything you need to know for exams he posts on Blackboard. He also posts all of his lectures on Tegrity so attendance is not mandatory. He really cares about his students.BIO2299 2019-11-22 19:39:47 +0000 UTC
Don't take this Professor. 1) Talks way too fast- you will fail his quizzes and exams due to his useless lectures. 2) Reads off of a script in class, but DOESN'T share it with us- as if digesting the material isn't enough to do. 3) A dozen worthless article write ups. 4) Takes points off for ANYTHING, almost impossible to get an A. Oh he's boring!BIOL3905 2017-11-30 17:05:16 +0000 UTC
I took this class as an elective bc it sounded interesting and it turned out to be a nightmare. His slides are empty, no words even though he reads from his notes that he could share. Talks too fast to be able to type everything so you have to listen to his recordings. Quizzes and tests are open responses which makes the whole thing even harder.BIOL3409 2017-11-27 13:20:04 +0000 UTC
lectures be drier than the saharan desertBIOL2405 2016-09-20 11:29:10 +0000 UTC
Bunce is overall not a bad teacher, but his lectures are so boring. He is redundant while lecturing, and I honestly learned better just watching the videos he recorded. Tests are all 50 MC questions and were not too bad. The class isn't that difficult, but I wouldn't take this class with him if your teacher being engaging is important to you.BIOL3405 2025-12-18 19:39:29 +0000 UTC
Dr. Bunce is super passionate about what he teaches. His exams are based on lecture material and he is a very fair grader. Your effort in this class corresponds to your grade. Bunce is supportive, kind and accessible outside of class. Wants the best for his students. Material can be complicated, so go to class. Great for BNS students.PSYC4512 2025-04-26 23:30:54 +0000 UTC
