I think she is the worst teacher I've had throughout my education. She is so hard to reach outside of class. One day she didn't show up to class and waited 40 minutes to tell us class was cancelled with no apology. She also goes on random tangents all the time it's so bad. Ok, Minott truly is passionate about her work. After taking this class it is clear that she wants everyone to succeed. She made time after class to discuss research projects and I truly believe her reaction time to emails improved over the course of the semester. Grading is hard but she tells you what she expects. People like to hate Minott, but she knows her stuff and is a great lecturer. The class addressed key issues and was very interesting. She always kept you attentive, and the podcast assignment was a great way to end the semester. Grading can be nit-picky and random, but most people do fine. All class time was spent with Professor Minott reading word for word off the slides, and her slides consisted almost entirely of information copy and pasted from various websites. She required us to read numerous articles completely unrelated to the course matter (and tested us over them), gave no instructions/feedback, and never answered emails.INTL2718 2025-01-02 01:48:22 +0000 UTC
I would avoid at all costs. She was hardly reachable outside of class and graded randomly. She also went on long irrelevant tangents and at one point said she didn't know what the IRA is (one of the most important pieces of environmental policy). Professor Minott is an amazing teacher who genuinely cares about her students. It has been such a pleasure to be able to take her class and learn from her. She possesses so much knowledge about what she is teaching about, and she constantly shares her own experiences with the class. Lectures are pointless; they go over the readings and fail to make any new points. Class barely discusses key pieces of policy and spends absurdly long on irrelevant concepts.
