Almost all her classes involve heavy group work. Lots of readings due before class, so be ready to read. She encourages discussion and is extremely caring. Prof Kitagawa is clearly very passionate about her subject, and her lectures are incredibly interesting. The class itself was pretty easy, but I feel like I gained a lot from the topics she covered, and the discussions we had in class. Professor Kitagawa is an amazing professor. Her lectures are incredibly engaging and helpful while dealing with sometimes long and boring readings. She also encourages collaboration through turn and talks as well as group projects. She also posts all her lectures online and Canvas is very nicely organized. One of my favorite POLS profs at NEU. The depth of her knowledge is incredible, she leads thought-provoking discussions, and every lecture is helpful. She gets so excited for questions, and as excited when people volunteer answers, class was always fun and good energy. A teacher who actually cares about students and what she's teaching. Every class, she asks for you to turn to your neighbor and talk to them, which might seem intimidating, but you end up with a ton of people that you know in the class. Professor's lectures are very monotone but she's a good teacher. Assigns lots of readings and its up to you to do them but you can get by class without doing them. There are only a few assignments per semester. Professor is very caring and nice and loves when her students stop by office hours. For Comparative Politics, she outlined the class well, gave us articles and documents to read which matched our lectures, and provided great feedback on our assignments. Dr. Kitagawa is brilliant She has helped me learn a lot in her Civil War class. However the lecture heaviness and unavailability of slides online (so you will go to class) made it a full note taking class. Professor Kitagawa was by far my favorite professor this semester, taken for Globalization and International Affairs. She assigns a fair amount of readings, and the class is lecture heavy, but she's very engaging and encourages participation. Great professor. Best one I've had so far at Northeastern. She cares about her students and is great at facilitating discussions. Knows when she needs to go into more depth with certain readings that the class may not grasp as much. She's a great professor who is not only an easy A but really engages the subject facilitating great group discussion. I learned a lot in this class and had a lot of fun.
