Professor Hedlund was, without question, my favorite teacher in college. State and Local was more interesting than Research Methods, but that's the material, not him. He cares about the material, he cares about his students, and he's very approachable. Research Methods is required; take it with him. State and Local isn't required, but I liked itPOL350 2012-01-11 21:02:06 +0000 UTC
Professor Hedlund is an amazing professor. In Research Methods, his lectures can make your eyes glaze over but he truly cares about you understanding the material. He's very accessible, and gives excellant feedback (at least half a page) on all papers regardless of whether it's an A or an F. I would definitely recommend taking his Research Methods!RSRCHMTHD 2010-04-05 14:30:00 +0000 UTC
Hedlund knows what he's talking about, and he's more than willing to help you out of class. The exams have some really random questions, but try to take good notes and learn them. He's old and the notes aren't terribly cohesive, so that's annoying. Try to read the book before the exam and look at your notes and you should do fine. it's really easyPOLS2350 2010-01-01 16:09:10 +0000 UTC
LegSim is fun -- you have to give it a chance. Prof Hedlund is very knowledgable of the subject and its obvious he loves teaching. Read the book a week before the midterm/final and going to class is key. Hedlund is always available to meet with students, which is helpful for getting ahead or coop/grad school advice.POLU350 2008-05-09 13:51:13 +0000 UTC
LegSim-simulation of Mass House of Reps takes a good deal of work. Midterm and final need to be studied for! Class consists of lectures twice a week and legsim once a week; interesting way to learn about the makeup of legislation. Four papers due throughout the semester. Do not miss lectures and read the chapters- however you cannot rely on either.POLU350 2008-04-09 16:14:07 +0000 UTC
