Easily the best class I have taken! Structurally the class is fair in terms of grading and forgiving if you have a rigorous schedule. The lectures are the best I've experienced from a professor. Dr. Ostadabbas was my professor for EECE4512: Healthcare technologies. The lectures were amazing with hands-on practice labs after every module. Professor provided us with the basics of data visualization and analysis of the body signals. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class. There was a unique focus on on new technologies and how they may be utilized in a real word scenario. I was able to conduct my own experiments to apply what I was learning. and gained a better understanding of data collection/analysis. The course provided a great overview of the techniques for mitigating the limited data issue! I loved the walkthrough of models' evolvement history. It really helped me to understand how researchers innovate on top of prior models. The course load is not heavy but all the work is meaningful. This course is a bit theoretical. Professor not only guided us to master every concept by writing on the whiteboard, but also pointed out how to use in practice, which is very conducive to our understanding and memory. I failed the first time I took this class, and had to retake the course with Professor Ostadabbas. Professor Ostadabbas gave thorough lessons and was a fair grader. Professor teaches clearly and effectively, making complex concepts easy to grasp. The course covers plenty of topics like VAE, GAN, Diffusion, NeRF, and GS. Students should present paper for seminars and complete a final group project to reproduce and analyze existing work. Great class, you get experience reading technical papers and presenting your work. In the group project you take data, learn to gather important features, and optionally use machine learning. I have attended this class last semeste. The professor gave nice lectures. She hand-wrote all the materials in detail on a whiteboard, which is good for me to review her lecture. The homework is sufficient for me to practice and get prepared for the exam.
