Dr. Choi's classes can be pretty boring, but overall she is a very fair and engaged teacher. If you read your lecture notes and can explain your rationale, you will do well on her tests. Though reading was recommended, neither I or many of my classmates did and we always did very well on tests.POLS1155 2022-12-06 07:52:44 +0000 UTC
If you're interested in the topic, this class is great for you. Prof Choi is definitely very smart and curious. She encourages participation and some group discussions. However, she is incredibly unclear about assignments, and it makes it extremely difficult to know how you're doing in the class and how to improve.POLS3423 2022-05-22 18:34:08 +0000 UTC
There are 3 assignments (2 written in-class midterms and a final paper) for the entire semester. She assigns a ton of readings, but they're superfluous considering what she considers important from them is covered in lectures. Probably spent a total of 12 hours doing work for this class the entire semester. Really easy A.POLS1160 2022-05-09 20:45:29 +0000 UTC
Dr. Choi's classes are primarily based on lectures and nothing else. You only write down notes and study them for the two midterms and the final paper that your entire grade is based on. The readings that are assigned are never mentioned in class. I read the textbook each week, but I started reading only to study for the midterm.POLS1155 2022-10-19 22:14:55 +0000 UTC
Prof Choi is a super straight forward lecturer; although she assigns a ton of readings, she covers almost all of them in class. The key to this class is to PARTICIPATE and I mean A LOT. If you are a quieter student who doesn't consistently attend class and participate, then you may not get an A. I loved her class a lot, though! Super interesting!!!POLS3423 2022-05-16 21:20:34 +0000 UTC
Very straightforward. Lectures were sometimes very boring and topics were explained in a very basic way so it wasn't always engaging. LOTS of readings. Midterms were graded kind of harshly and very specifically. Attendance is a must! Overall, not too difficult though as there were no additional assignments.POLS1160 2022-05-03 00:39:27 +0000 UTC
Is super nice, but isn't a great lecturer. Class was really hard to sit through some days. Assigns lots of readings, but you can get by without doing it all. For some reason, Choi assigns two midterms and and a final exam, which each have multiple essays done in class.POLS1155 2022-06-26 18:10:11 +0000 UTC
I took POLS 1160 and Professor Choi was awesome. Be sure to participate in class. She assigns a lot of readings, and her Midterms were pretty harshly, but fairly graded. Overall, I would take again.POLS1160 2022-04-27 21:21:44 +0000 UTC
