Took this Fall 2025. Lots of readings. You have reading logs due on Tuesday and Friday. Lectures are basically based on the readings and more in-depth explanations. For the more graded assignments, please ask her about the assignment in full detail. It will help. WARNING: This is not a Republican (Trump MAGA class), be aware! Very liberal class.POLS2358 2026-02-27 03:28:17 +0000 UTC
The goat, does not deserve previous bad reviews, could be more tech savvySOCL1241 2025-11-13 20:34:19 +0000 UTC
She did not put any resources on canvas aside from the required reading. She did not put in any grades during the semester and arbitrarily sent me an email saying I got a B with no explanation of why.She isn't hard? the reading and class lectures aren't hard? apparently grades hard but doesn't give any feedback to why you scored what you did.SOCL1245 2022-05-02 21:06:50 +0000 UTC
I took Senior Capstone with this professor and it was horrible. She already has negative reputation in the Sociology department but I had to take this course to graduate. She would guess definitions on the spot. The syllabus was extremely disorganized. She is also no trans friendly and will mess up pronouns and not care if you correct her.SOC4600 2018-12-06 16:57:21 +0000 UTC
WORST TEACHER EVER! Don't take this course. For an elective you have 8 papers, two presentations and a midterm. If you don't speak more than twice a class your grade will be negatively affected. A class that's about realizing how people are treated unfairly concerning race, she does the same thing with grades. Save yourself now. DON'T TAKE IT!HSU350 2008-12-23 14:36:53 +0000 UTC
Unclear and vague when teaching and especially on test questions. Often defensive and thinks her students are dumb. Would not recommend the class and be skeptical of most of what she says because she is usually wrongSOC500 2008-04-03 11:27:27 +0000 UTC
Do not take this class. She is way too vague in class, prints her quizzes offline and doesn't edit them to what was covered in class, argues with students whenever they go to her with a concern, doesn't practice what she teaches, is not helpful at all, and basically is just an all around terrible professor. The worst I've had at Northeastern.HS350 2007-12-04 12:43:32 +0000 UTC
This professor is amazing. She is not the most tech savvy but if she made a mistake, she would never fault us for it and would give us an extension if needed. In the middle of the semester, she had us sit down and write down what we would like her to change about the class/teachings, and she actually changed everything that we asked her to.POLS2358 2025-12-04 18:48:33 +0000 UTC
She took 1.8 off my grade for missing a single class and 7 off my grade for participation. She didn't give a single grade back all semester. Doesn't teach and forces students to read about 150 pages a week. Disconnected from students. Worst professor at the university.SOCL1241 2018-04-07 01:02:20 +0000 UTC
Shes so confusing. She makes the work given harder than it looks and gives busy work instead of meaningful assignments. Her grading scheme is a mess because she grades things in groups so your grade on Blackboard is not accurate. On top of that she wont even tell you youre actual grade if you ask. Protect your mental health! Dont take it w. herSOCL1245 2020-04-17 18:23:28 +0000 UTC
Profe Dominguez is passionate, knowledgeable, and very kind. She can be confusing, but is very helpful and receptive if you ask her questions (plus she's more responsive via email than most profs). She's also super understanding so if you have any issues just communicate! Also very chill grader (almost everyone got 100s) and LGBTQ friendly!POLS2358 2025-12-02 22:01:11 +0000 UTC
Dominguez gives a hell of a lot of reading, and can be biased in her teaching... BUT conceptually this class is one of the most interesting i've taken at University. Despite the quantity of work given ; weekly essays and one 10 page final paper (no midterm or final) if you pay attention and participate you will manage fine. Tip; do the reading!SOCL1241 2018-03-16 13:53:15 +0000 UTC
Worst professor at this university. I wouldn't wish this professor on my worst enemy. Hard pass on ever taking a class with her again.SOCL1241 2018-02-14 13:37:36 +0000 UTC
This is the worst class I've ever taken at Northeastern. For an elective you have to write tons of papers, and her biases clearly show in her teaching. I would strongly recommend against taking anything with her unless you absolutely have to.SOCL1241 2017-09-11 22:11:25 +0000 UTC
This is her first time teaching Sociology of Violence (the other professor is retiring). It isn't bad. There's only 8 people in my class so all we do is have a discussion on Tuesdays and watch a movie every Friday. There are no tests! But there is a LOT of writing (a short analysis every week, and three 10 page papers throughout the semester).SOCL1241 2014-10-27 10:14:49 +0000 UTC
