Professor Bourns is one of the kindest professors I've had. Her class is reading heavy, but if you do it all you'll find the exam questions to be very reasonable. Prof Bourns was one of my favorite language teachers! She cares about the lives of each of her students and facilitated a great class culture. She is very well versed in teaching grammar and provides many great practice resources without giving a stressful course load. VERY homework-heavy, a lot of watching long films, and long readings. In class, be prepared to fight the sleep, b/c technology isn't allowed in any of her classes. She wants us to be "involved". 95% of the class is her talking, & the rest is our 5-minute break, during which we talk and are allowed to use our phones. I love Prof. Bourns! I cannot recommend her class (elementary french 2) enough. She is a fantastic teacher who doesn't only know french but knows how to teach the language well. Professor Bourns is straight-up the best professor I've had at Northeastern. I feel so much more confident in my French skills. She is so helpful both in and outside of the classroom if you need. I had her 1102 Elementary French 2 class. She was the sweetest and kindest professor I've had so far at Northeastern. She focused on all areas of the language from speech, reading and writing comprehension, and culture. Her exams are fair and not too difficult. Professor Bourns is just the sweetest woman. She really cares about her students and she's very knowledgable (maybe not the most tech savvy but that's okay!). This class really isn't that tough.
