Homework isn't too bad, come into each class with having the articles/case studies skimmed. There are "pop quizzes" in this class, but it's fairly obvious when you're gonna have these because she'll give out hints or just straight up tell you through Canvas. I had her as a professor for a required class and she made the material intriguing. Her lectures are engaging and she is a fair, somewhat easy grader. Participation is required, but you aren't harshly penalized for missing a few classes. She also gives obvious hints about when pop-quizzes will be. Dr. Marano is passionate and loves teaching! Sometimes lectures were long, but she tried to make them engaging (current articles, guest speakers, etc.). There are reading quizzes and 2 exams (I read the textbook as she recommended, but still found her "common sense" questions difficult. PARTICIPATE (worth a lot)! Professor Marano is very nice and like a previous review stated, the material is pretty dry but it's not her fault. She gives 5 "reflection" quizzes throughout the semester which are based on readings - they are "pop quizzes" but she will heavily suggest reading a particular article if she plans on quizzing. TAKE HER! Super understanding, participation matters a lot so make sure you speak at least once at every session. Read the textbook and focus on the main points for the exams and you'll get an easy A. 2 group projects but very leniently graded. Dr. Marano is very nice and caring. Her exams are hard, and the lectures do not correspond with what is on the exams. There is a lot of group work that is time consuming but does not count for a large portion of your grade. Dr. Marano is lovely person and caring professor. The class requires a lot of reading and occasional pop quizzes. We have two exams which I found challenging because they were heavily based on the textbook but not on what we talked about in class. This class was mainly a discussion-based class for an hour and 40 minutes. She will read from a slideshow and expect the students to mostly speak for majority of the lecture. Participation really matters, so be sure you read or skim at the readings before class. Dr. Marano is a very nice lady and super caring; however, she does not care for the teaching aspect of her job. It kind of feels like her research is more important than her teaching. Great teacher. Prepare for each class (skim the readings) and you will be fine. Participate consistently and you will reap the benefits of a positive participation grade. First exam was light, second caught me by surprise but I was comfortably able to get an A-. Prof. is super caring and wants everyone to succeed. Lectures can get a bit boring but tries to keep everyone engaged by asking questions etc. There are a couple of easy 2 question pop quizzes on the cases she assigns for hw. She's a really good and knowledgeable professor, always willing to help out outside of class. However, she has a strict no-electronic policy and the class is heavily participation. She also gives our pop quizzes for readings, but they are easy if you actually read the materials.
