Andre Switala is very knowledgable! He knows a lot about the subject and is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. With that being said he is a very tough grader and his tests require you to put the work in. Switala is definitely a dedicated instructor and a knowledgible macro-economist, though a harsh grader from some students' perspective. if u seriously take his lectures, u'll find them helpful. Andre is a terribly boring teacher. His tests are extremely difficult because they are 10-15 multiple choice then 2-3 open response worth 30ish points each and he gives very little partial credit on the open response. Cool guy, very knowledgeable. That said, his tests are extremely hard and that's really the only grade. His grammar isn't that great but you could do much worse in the economics department in terms of english proficiency. Andre is rigid academician, while a good instructor and a nice person to communicate with.From the way he teaches, you'll learn to work hard to earn grades and to think like an economist. Professor Switala is a knowledgable, smart, cool and really responsible instructor. Well prepared prior to each class;expressive in analyzing and explaining economic problems. He makes himself all time available during his office hour and is committed to answering students' question. Switala is a decent professor, it's nice that he doesn't care about attendance because his classes aren't that helpful. As long as you do the reading each week it shouldn't be too bad. His midterms and finals are very difficult though and he scales them. During class his lectures are very dry, as is economics though.ECON1115 2009-12-06 21:12:14 +0000 UTC
