Took him for Economics in Poverty and Inequality. One of the best professors at NEU by far, a very interesting class. Every concept in class relates to real life and he keeps us up to date with the current economic affairs. He gives a lot of extra credits, exams are essay-based. The best Prof ever! He is my role model! Lot's of interesting handouts, real life examples and exercises. If you want to learn a lot about Labor Economics, application of econometric models, research and policy analysis, then take his class. He has a great personality too. I dont remember the class numbers; but I have taken Poverty and Income Inequality, Human capital, and I did a directed study with Sum. He knows what he is talking about. Professor Sum is a very knowledgeable man. He knows a lot about the macroeconomy but sometimes speaks very quickly about concepts which a lot of students do not understand. Sum seems to teach a very difficult class, but if you show up almost every day (even though attendance is not taken) you should pick up enough of the material to do well in the course.
