I learned a lot in this class! There was a quiz every Monday based on the previous week's lectures and the readings that were assigned for that day. You definitely needed to put in the work, but if you took the time to work through the information, it was not particularly difficult to understand. By far the best course I've ever taken at NEU. Tough course for sure, but you walk out with an understanding of a field in a way that you just won't get with other NU Econ Electives. She's interesting & passionate, & the topics were never boring. Definitely learned a lot about American healthcare/health insurance system. There are many readings (articles) so try to keep up. This is the best class that I've taken to date in the Econ Department at NU. Not an easy A but I walked out with a clear understanding of the subject matter. She obviously cares about making sure that the content is evenly interwoven with theory, recent research and policy journalism. Prof Kilby is one of the best professors I've had at Northeastern. She is the sole redemption of the econ department. This class is hard work, but she explains concepts really well, and really cares about both the topics and the students. You learn a lot in this class!
