He is a really nice professor. I took his linear system class and it went pretty well. Homework was not too hard and exams were easy. His linear system class was heavily mathematical. If you are taking his linear system class, you definitely need to delve into the textbook and spend some time. Great professor!EECE2520 2016-04-26 19:21:24 +0000 UTC
He seems like a really nice guy, but he is not a good teacher for circuits. He rarely makes it through an example without confusing the class or himself. That being said the quizzes are fairly easy, but the hw is made by other professors and can be tough even though he grades pretty easily. TL;DR He is a fun professor but a not so great teacherEECE2410 2013-11-06 17:05:27 +0000 UTC
I had him for Noise and it was really easy with him. I believe he is the right prof for undergraduates. He teaches you in a very easy way and you understand it, unlike other profs! I would take with him again no doubt. Nice person tooEECE3468 2010-05-05 00:21:08 +0000 UTC
Prof. Devaney is a pretty good teacher. You really have two choices in his class. You can either go to his recitations and if you're still stuck stop by his office hours, or you can fall horribly behind and fail. He makes tough material fun/interesting. Your effort level determines your success...he takes care of the students he knows work hard.ECEU464 2007-01-02 15:06:38 +0000 UTC
He is funny as hell and I have never had an engineering teacher like him. He is not afraid to joke around and he loves his job. Aside from that, he makes class way too easy. he is all for making people pass. It's actually harder to fail his class than pass it.LS 2006-04-27 18:04:18 +0000 UTC
Good guy with a good sense of humor. Class takes a little getting used to, but once you get back into doing calculus and basic algebra, it isn't bad at all. Perk: free textbook.LINEARSYSTEMS 2006-04-16 22:56:28 +0000 UTC
Good teacher, knows his stuff. If you're not stupid you will enjoy this class, easy if you stay on top of the homework. Crammable if need be.ECE464 2006-02-27 23:12:35 +0000 UTC
If Devan is good at teaching a subject, it isn't circuit theory. The lectures were not useful to go to. They were often confusing because he wouldn't finish an idea before moving on. The examples he did were also so easy they didn't actually help us do any work. Always on the other professor's leash, so the fact he is more lenient didn't matter.EECE2410 2013-04-25 14:29:19 +0000 UTC
He is a good teacher, speaks perfect english, caucasian - not an everyday professor in engineering... This was his first time teaching this course, but he made this AWESOME .pdf of the book (so you don't have to buy a $150 book) with good explainations in it.ECEU464 2005-04-20 09:44:35 +0000 UTC
He seems like a nice guy, but don't take him for circuits. He was learning it along side us, which made it hard to understand. Especially when it was hard for him to first understand something as well. A teacher should know the material before being chosen to teach it. ** Not the case here.EECE2410 2011-10-31 10:41:58 +0000 UTC
Very confusing teacher.Gives extensions on every HW and favors those students that he knows well.He has the worst handwriting ever and is awful at grading exams.Cool guy overall, but unless you're the best, you'll have no idea what grade will be coming at the end of the semester.ECEU464 2005-03-19 15:29:42 +0000 UTC
