Phenomenal lectures, but very old school. 80% of the grade is two exams and there are no practical projects. Very strange for what is a really practical course that would be great to do projects to enhance understanding.EECE7200 2025-03-25 15:44:01 +0000 UTC
Offers numerous examples for all relevant problems discussed in class. Unfortunately the material in class had little practical application. Enjoys telling stories with words of wisdom. Requires engagement from the student asking questions. His notes are hand written but easy to read. Homework is quite extensive. I wouldn't pay for this class.ME5250 2022-03-23 22:25:50 +0000 UTC
Shafai is by far the worst professor I've had in college. His teaching style is ineffective and he wastes class time by showing up late and telling unrelated stories about soccer. Don't expect to learn anything practical in his classes as he rarely offers applicable examples.ECE4630 2020-04-21 20:11:41 +0000 UTC
Nice guy but can get confusing sometimes. Some of the lectures over-complicated things which can easily be understood from the book. Handwriting is also hard to read sometimes but you can manage. Also, I didn't enjoy the way he made his own notation which conflicts with that of the book. This made things more confusing when reviewing.ECE720 2018-12-06 02:48:07 +0000 UTC
It was a great experience taking his advance courses. He taught them very fluently and he seemed to be totally aware of what he is teaching so that he could transfer his points in the simplest possible way.ROBUSTCONTROL 2015-01-12 17:23:18 +0000 UTC
Great guy, but he can't teach all that well. Don't expect to learn anything, but expect to get an A- or A (nothing less than that). Awesome guyf or Capstone also.,ECE630 2007-04-22 14:26:50 +0000 UTC
Office hours difficult to get one on one time with him. The midterm is pretty straightforward but the final is nothing like what is discussed in class or homeworks. The midterm and final are worth 40% each so pretty test heavy.EECE7200 2019-01-15 20:26:34 +0000 UTC
Nice guy but he isn't a good professor. He is hard to contact and his grading system is 80% dependent on two tests. He rarely starts or end lecture when he is supposed to making the class feel like a waste of time. He's just kind of all over the place.ME5250 2020-04-14 18:21:21 +0000 UTC
You can always see the big picture of what you are learning during his lecture. In another word, the structure of his lecture is very clear. The material in the textbook becomes much easier after you attended his class!!!! Amazing! Friendly, respectful, energetic professorEECE7200 2018-11-10 00:18:04 +0000 UTC
