Professor read straight off the slides, so attending lecture was useless. You are better off not going to class and just reading the textbook, which is not ideal for organic chemistry. I took Fulton during the summer which I would recommend to anyone. He made tests online and open note for a few of them and when he didn't, he was very clear about the material that we needed to understand for the exams. Introduction to Spectrometry is a great upper level elective. Especially useful if you actually use NMR. Although the material can be somewhat difficult for the first month, the course becomes very easy once you get it. Great Guy! The lectures can be hard to follow sometimes - but it takes time. It's difficult material but Brian was always ready to help - and would even go out of his way to do so. I can tell he means well, but he really doesn't notice at all when the entire class is completely lost. Lectures are super monotone and boring, got the feeling that the class was a chore to him. He is very good at organic chemistry, but he teaches in a bare-minimum way. Class was all lectures with slides and drawn-out reactions. He talks fast and in confusing terms, expects you to understand. Grade was based off of 4 exams (including final). I took orgo 2 with Fulton during summer 2 and he definitely made the course manageable for summer. We were allowed a page of notes on exams and he even made half of the exams take home and canceled the final. Professor Fulton's lectures can be very boring, however, he is accommodating and understanding that the course material is difficult. After the second exam, he allowed for a 30 point extra credit assignment.
