Staton is a great lecturer. I was breezing through this course with an A+ until exam 3 plummeted me. She went incredibly quick with reactions. My grade TANKED from not being to able to catch up and it happened in legit 2 lectures. Before the final exam she adds even more. My advice? STUDY DAILY. Especially for exam 3. I loved taking Organic II with Professor Staton. The class is difficult, but with 50% test corrections back on the three midterm exams it's more than fair. Great prof for Orgo. She knows what shes talking about and can explain things super well. Lectures and canvas are organized very well. Her tests are SO difficult. Professor Staton teaches pretty well, but her lectures are much easier compared to the questions she gives us for weekly workshops and exams. She also rushes through lectures and rushed through the material at the end, making me feel pretty unprepared for exam 3 and the final. Take this class if you're worried about getting doing bad in orgo 2, but not if you're aiming for/think you can achieve an A/high B. She's a very nice professor and she does genuinely care about her students. Orgo is hard, but Prof Staton gives you the resources to succeed. She expects you to dedicate a lot of time to her class (polling Qs, achieve HW, weekly psets), but you need to spend time on orgo daily to do well. Prof Staton is great at teaching, however grading takes too long(we still don't have our third exams or workshops back after the final). The final was hard and workshops don't resemble tests so our averages were low. It's her first time teaching it, her lectures had a lot of depth. She explained Organic Chem REALLY well, I honestly thought this was my most fun class simply because I understood chemistry for the first time. Tests are really difficult, but you get 50% back. The final was actually the worst one ive ever taken. She taught new information right up until the last class which showed up on the final. The workshops were not as helpful as I wished since this exam barley included exam 1/2 material. Staton was good, homework was manageable and lectures were easy to follow. My biggest issue was her exams, they were difficult, but we has test corrections. The days leading up to final, the work was unbearable. Prof. Staton is your best bet for orgo 1 especially if you are preparing to take the MCAT. Her teaching style is amazing and even though her tests are harder than other orgo 1 profs, there is a 50% test correction policy. Be ready to study! Tests are insanely hard and a lot of work load. She barely gives any time to actually practice the material because in three days there is so much new material. Tests are so impossible, and she falls behind on grading so you won't even be sure what to study for the next exam or the final. Heard from others that she has yet to give back exam 3 scores until after the final. Practice tests are nothing like the real ones.
