Really engaging lecturer and cool grading policies (50% corrections on exams). However, her tests are just insanely difficult. The practice exams are not similar at all to the real thing, making it hard to study. She has very little leniency for personal circumstances but is always willing to meet with you. Would've taken Orgo 2 with her if I couldCHEM2311 2026-01-26 21:23:07 +0000 UTC
I loved taking Organic II with Professor Staton. The class is difficult, but with 50% test corrections back on the three midterm exams it's more than fair. She is readily accessible outside of class and genuinely seems to care about her students and the course itself. I definitely recommend for Orgo II.CHEM2313 2025-12-31 13:03:19 +0000 UTC
This class is super hard and content heavy but Prof Staton gives you everything you need to pass. Having test corrections was a godsend and you really can improve your score a lot if you put in the time.CHEM2311 2026-01-09 16:00:18 +0000 UTC
Great prof for Orgo. She knows what shes talking about and can explain things super well. Lectures and canvas are organized very well. Her tests are SO difficult. Corrections for midterms make it easier to get a good grade and tons of padding w. extra credit, homework, and participation.CHEM2313 2025-12-20 22:35:00 +0000 UTC
She is an amazing prof and I genuinely learned so much in her class. Her exams are very tough and she prioritizes her students understanding concepts but if you do the weekly practice and homework she gives you will be able to succeed. She is the best professor I have had so far.CHEM2311 2025-12-16 21:37:48 +0000 UTC
Take this class if you're worried about getting doing bad in orgo 2, but not if you're aiming for/think you can achieve an A/high B. She's a very nice professor and she does genuinely care about her students. Her tests are just too hard (even with 50% test corrections), so her grading criteria makes it so no one fails but no one does great either.CHEM2313 2025-12-17 15:59:45 +0000 UTC
She taught in a way that was easy to understand. She provided many resources to help like test corrections. She falls behind grading and it's really frustrating to have to wait. It would be nice if she communicated when things were taking her longer, she would promise us grades back by a date and then give them back 12 days later.CHEM2311 2025-12-15 19:03:54 +0000 UTC
Prof Staton is great at teaching, however grading takes too long(we still don't have our third exams or workshops back after the final). The final was hard and workshops don't resemble tests so our averages were low. It's her first time teaching it, her lectures had a lot of depth. I just wish there was practice that resembled test like questions.CHEM2313 2025-12-12 02:51:45 +0000 UTC
Professor Staton's teaching style for Organic Chemistry I really clicked with me personally. Her tests are difficult, but in the non-Honors section, you are offered test corrections where you can get 50% of your points back. I also found the test corrections really helpful for incentive to review content that you previously got wrong.CHEM2311 2025-12-11 19:52:09 +0000 UTC
If you want to truly understand orgo 1, I'd take Staton's class. She's not the best at grading assignments promptly, (just the took the final and assignments from week 4 are ungraded), but her quality of teaching is great. Exams are HARD which can feel really unrewarding and discouraging especially after studying so hard but, her class is do-able.CHEM2311 2025-12-11 18:47:19 +0000 UTC
Lowkey the goat idk her test corrections come in clutch and the content/practice she gives lowkey reflects some of the exam material. Her exams are extremely hard, but with test corrections its not that difficult to end with an A/B. Just study a lot and really try to learn the conceptual stuff. She's really sweet.CHEM2311 2025-12-08 02:24:59 +0000 UTC
Honestly, a very kind and sweet professor, but those exams were ridiculously long and complex. Despite corrections, I felt like I was in an honors class. Since exams determine most of your grade, just go for another professor; it's not worth the headache. She is not generous at all with partial points; it might as well be multiple choice.CHEM2311 2025-11-25 15:12:20 +0000 UTC
I loved her class so much; she made organic fun and enjoyable. She offered test corrections over the summer, which were very helpful. Her office hours are amazing! She cares about her students and wants everyone to understand the content.CHEM2311 2025-10-26 03:32:24 +0000 UTC
She is very nice and approachable. Orgo is an incredibly hard class but she makes it easier to digest with her lectures, which are easy to follow and very detailed. Her tests are very hard, harder than other orgo profs from what I've heard, but she gives you the resources you need to succeed and her test corrections are very forgiving.CHEM2311 2025-09-02 04:10:06 +0000 UTC
I took Summer II Orgo 1 w/ Prof. Staton and loved her! Yes, the course goes fast but that's just the nature of orgo. She did a great job at giving clear lectures and providing time outside of class for students to get extra help. Test corrections were offered for most tests and extra credit opportunities were made. She clearly cares for students!CHEM2311 2025-08-30 21:51:31 +0000 UTC
