Really solid professor for economics and was helpful and cares for students in office hours and especially when contacted through email about specifics. Your whole grade basically resides on how well you can do on the quizzes but as long as you take notes on his review day lecture then I think the quizzes become much easier to perform well on.ECON1116 2021-07-01 01:32:57 +0000 UTC
Carlos is a really nice guy who cares about teaching econ. Will spend plenty of time explaining stuff if you're confused. Office hours helped. Tests were hard but very similar to the homework so make sure you know how to do it. Textbook was helpful in addition to lectures but not necessary. I am currently taking Game Theory and Information Economics with Professor Dominguez and felt compelled to leave this review because he is an absolute beast at making inaccessible and overwhelmingly formal material easy to understand and apply. Took down all notes in the class, but didn't have to use it once, so don't write notes if you don't want to. There are lecture notes (free) to replace the textbook ($100+). He's open to office hours, sort of helpful. Don't ask too many questions. I was 1-2 points away from a B+. One of the best I've experienced. He makes an effort to explain concepts in a lucid manner and makes sure that the class understands. He's available to provide help to students who want/need it through office hours. Carlos genuinely concerns himself with the classes understanding. I took Micro for the second time over the summer (I dropped the first time) with Carlos and he made it so much easier. You know what he expects from you and his lectures are very helpful and so are his lecture notes. I truly recommend him if you have to take micro, he's great and cares that you understand economics. Took Micro as a first time Econ experience and it was going to be brutal from everything I heard from my friends. Had Carlos and he made a difficult class easier and gave you access to everything you'll need to succeed. Worksuccess in the class no two ways about it but he was excellent and extremely helpful!
