Let's be real, you're probably here because you're weighing up Grenier vs. Kuga. Firstly, remember this above all else: organic chemistry is challenging, no matter the professor. Then, choose Prof Grenier. I have taken Orgo with both and found Grenier easy going in his lecture style, flexible if he sees you're trying, and accessible. Good guy.CHM2200 2025-08-12 16:14:09 +0000 UTC
Casey is awesome. His class is difficult but definitely doable. I took both ORGO 1 and 2 with him, half semester each. He's a great professor. I definitely recommend his class to anyone who needs these courses.CHM2110 2023-12-06 07:19:17 +0000 UTC
OOOO my God. Chemistry is really a challenge class but some prof can be make is worse on you. No extra credits. Exams are on lock down browser so you will need to study. Good luckCHE21000 2021-07-13 01:51:29 +0000 UTC
Not a particularly hard class (SOE req), but the worst professor I have ever had at Tufts. All content was asynchronous (including recitations) and the quizzes, tests and HW were on pearson. Changes due dates with little/no warning. Doesn't respond to emails. He frequently sends rude emails telling the students to not ask for extra credit work.CHEM1 2021-05-14 23:36:28 +0000 UTC
His Chem1 is asynch and he doesn't make any of his lecture videos, he takes them from the previous professor who taught in the Fall, hws and exams are auto-graded. His MasteringChem due dates are confusing, sometimes it's due at 11:59 am and sometimes 11:59 pm. I don't know what this guy is getting paid for at Tufts. The TAs do more work than him.CHEM01 2021-04-09 00:08:47 +0000 UTC
Exam are lock down and webcam. You need to really study for his class. There is no feee lunch.CHE2110 2021-02-19 21:08:21 +0000 UTC
Perfect guy!CAN165 2020-10-29 23:02:54 +0000 UTC
Professor Grenier teaches organic chemistry so well. He is very clear on the concepts and principles, which makes learning a lot easier. He prepares you well with homework problems, and if you have any questions, he is more than happy to answer them. I would highly recommend him.CHM2200 2025-05-07 00:20:03 +0000 UTC
the final exam broke my grade. I had an 87% in the class before the final exam. The final isn't curved and its EXTREMELY difficult. This is not what a chemistry class should be like. Final is worth 200 points, which is worth both exams combined. I studied for 8 days. the average for the final was a 62%. goodluckCHM2110 2022-05-06 23:23:40 +0000 UTC
I am in his Chem 1 class at Tufts University, and it is awful. He doesn't do anything. The TA's do all the recitations; the exams, quizzes and homeworks are on MyLab and are graded automatically, and the lectures are asynchronous and done by a different professor. The only thing he does do is answer emails in a cold and unprofessional manner.CHEM01 2021-04-06 20:56:54 +0000 UTC
I thought Professor Grenier was a good professor, he's straightforward in explaining what he wants you to learn in the class, and and tries to make sure everyone has the opportunity to do well (very welcome in a difficult subject like orgo). He clearly explains what will be on exams, and gives credit for participation. He's also a very cool person.CHM2200 2025-04-29 17:31:05 +0000 UTC
Great guy, very smart and knows the subject well... took orgo as an accelerated 9-week course and he managed to cram it all in and still make organic chemistry manageable. Studied for tests mostly by the lecture powerpoint and study guide and did well. Would take his course againCHM2110 2018-12-03 19:14:08 +0000 UTC
Taking CHEM01 with him at Tufts and he made the class completely asynchronous. He responds to emails with entitled, snarky tones. Completely ripped the previous professor's video lectures and decided to not upload any lectures of his own. He is mediocre at best.CHEM01 2021-02-08 01:18:41 +0000 UTC
Prof.Grenier was amazing. I took both Orgo 1+2 with him in an accelerated format. Attendance is crucial + his lectures are thorough. Assignments + quizzes are "previews" of exams so pay attention to those. He is very flexible and understanding. I think low reviews were given by those who did not understand his teaching style. Prof.Grenier is great.CHM2200 2023-12-14 02:49:01 +0000 UTC
I took the accelerated orgo 1+2. Its a hard class but doable.CHM2200 2021-09-03 14:11:02 +0000 UTC
