My favorite professor! It's clear she's passionate about what she teaches, and is a very kind and understanding person. Very clear with lecture - the textbook does help with understanding, but you don't really need it if you pay attention in class. One of the best professors I've had. I took Anthropology of Latin America as a Spanish minor and totally changed my worldview. Professor Santelices is a nice woman, but the class was boring. She just reads off the slides. There is a ton of work and readings, and it doesn't follow the syllabus in terms of dates, which makes it hard to follow along. The mid-term was difficult. Claudia is a really genuine, caring professor who has amazing life stories and lectures that brought me to tears on several occasions. Professor Santelices is a very kind and understanding professor. Lectures could get long and boring sometimes, but she was very passionate about what she teaches. Quizzes and exams were pretty fair and assignments were fairly easy. Claudia was an AMAZING professor. I took her biology class and had absolutely 0 complaints. If you pay attention in class, do the notes, and just put in effort, you will do just fine. Prof Santelices is amazing! She makes her lectures engaging and always ties them to personal stories and research. When she assigns papers, she lets you send drafts beforehand for feedback and is very accessible in and out of class. She is kind, accommodating, and overall incredible. Claudia is the best! She's so easy going and wants all of her students to do very well in her class. She's always willing to work with students about anything, so don't be afraid to ask for assignment extensions or extra help with something. DON'T buy the book!!
