I took HINF 5301 for my senior capstone as an undergrad. This was genuinely one of my favorite classes I've taken at Northeastern. Professor Intille is an engaging lecturer and offers very constructive feedback. Prof. Intille is knowledgeable about design and has good insights, but this class felt more like psychology than a CS course. 2 textbook chapters + additional readings every week, very long written assignments, and we only even did concrete prototyping/design/coding in the last 5 weeks of the course. Not helpful at. He paid too much attention on the presentations on class, also did not even teach you how to write code(barely) or how to use the tools that might be needed for Mobile App Development in android. Very nice guy and caring. Nerdy in a sweet way. Discussion posts and weekly homeworks are pretty easy and just meant to practice programming and understand data science in the real world. 60% of grade was based on project, and if you want a good grade you gotta push to do something complex. Absolutely terrible class. No coding until the very end, just mounds of reading and pointless writing assignments with arbitrary requirements. Grading rubrics make little sense, it's not even possible to get full credit on discussion board assignments. The professor barely teaches and just rambles. Health practicum for data science. Good guy. His TAs were gems too. Didn't have any problems with this class, just make sure you use class time to work on your final project & ask questions as they come up.
