You will learn investments the way Professor Porter wants it to be taught. That includes his own opinions that may not always be 100% accurate. Regardless, he isn't THAT bad. Gary has a good personality, but his teaching methods aren't effective, nor is his grading style. Canvas can be confusing, he can be confusing. He does offer some flexibility with how your tests are weighted, and (at least for me) the final was optional. Good guy; definitely makes you work to earn your grade. Go and see him as much as you can or else you can get lost pretty quickly. You have to attend every class as well as read the textbook in order to truly grasp the material. Tests are tough, but fair. Please listen to the reviews and DO NOT take this class. He will not give you a good grade on anything unless you do everything PERFECTLY the way he thinks it should be. This is the worst professor I have EVER had. He's never worked outside of academia and if you disagree with his investment theories/opinions he will heavily penalize you on your assignments. Porter is all around a great teacher, but you have to come to class. He's one of the few that actually uses tegrity, but a lot of exam questions come from in-class problems that he runs through during the class.
