I had professor Zupanc for my Biology Capstone course. The professor made little effort to connect or demonstrate clear expectations to the students despite being a harsh grader and not giving feedback. I reached out to him three times during the semester to set up office hours and ask questions and he never responded.BIOL3601 2025-12-22 19:17:15 +0000 UTC
Graded only on 4 tests, one of which includes the final. If you go to lectures and study off slides, tests will be easy. Stressful in the idea that every test question is worth about 1% of your final grade.BIO1115 2021-04-28 20:28:32 +0000 UTC
His exams are easy as long as you study the content he goes over in the lectures and he doesn't give homework. However, your grade is based on only a few tests so there are no opportunities to bring up your grade outside of testing. Also, he doesn't use a textbook so you need to attend class to learn the content.BIOL1115 2021-01-20 18:55:37 +0000 UTC
HORRIBLE teacher... He has no idea what he's doing and waits until the last minute to fail students. Very inconsiderate professor and can't teach for his life. Your grade in the class is determined by 4 tests and every Question you get wrong is a point off your final grade. He puts in 0 effort for his students. Transfer out if you have him.BIOL1116 2020-09-10 01:33:09 +0000 UTC
Zupanc was horrible. Worst BNS professor yet, not only was he mind numbingly boring, he was consistently harsh in his feedback to students, politically incorrect, and we had back to back exams at the end of the semester. Could never follow what we were actually learning nor the theme of the class. Thought he was a sweet old man, I was wrong.BIOL3601 2023-12-09 06:17:04 +0000 UTC
Professor Zupanc was one of the best professors I had at Northeastern. Your grade is based on 4 tests, in which each question is worth 1 percent of your grade but he does provide you with some extra credit questions on your final exam and he does make sure that his students do indeed understand the content before moving on to the next slide.BIOL1115 2020-12-14 03:06:07 +0000 UTC
The lectures were impossible to follow and were incredibly disorganized. A vast majority of the time in class was spent listening to student presentations. Be prepared to self-teach from the textbook. The professor wrote his own textbook, which feeds into the lack of overarching theme for the course. Do not take this course if you can avoid it.BIOL3601 2023-12-06 17:42:05 +0000 UTC
Had him spring2020 and it was the easiest class I've taken at Northeastern so far. No homework, only had to study for exams that were multiple choice. If you paid attention during lectures and reviewed the slides before exams there were really no surprises. He is nice to the students that show engagement, so I suggest sitting up front and asking qsBIOL1115 2020-09-03 16:27:02 +0000 UTC
What a great guy. Best neuroscience class at Northeastern. He strikes a great balance between history of the topic and what is known today. He engages his students and really takes into consideration their thoughts and feedback. Take notes in class and you'll be fine.BIOL3601 2018-11-26 12:18:49 +0000 UTC
Very inconsiderate and unnecessarily difficult professor. He can't teach and isn't willing to put in effort for his students. Don't take him.BIOL1115 2020-04-28 13:28:21 +0000 UTC
no textbook required which is nice but class grade is determined by 4 tests. Super nice guy though.BIOL1115 2020-04-04 20:37:42 +0000 UTC
Course is graded on three 20 q multiple choice midterms and a 40 q final - every question you get wrong is a point off your final %. Pretty much all of the questions come right off his lecture slides which are posted on Blackboard. He speaks pretty quietly with a thick accent so if you want to actually get anything out of the lecture, sit up front.BIOL1115 2019-12-03 21:02:17 +0000 UTC
