This professor creates horrible video lectures and has very limited knowledge of recording software, making most of his content useless. Furthermore, his... unique cadence makes him very difficult to understand. Professor Vicentini works very hard to convey everything in his lectures, and sometimes can overexplain simple things (but you'll be glad about that when he moves onto harder topics). He can be a hard grader, but not unfair, what he expects will always be written down, and he's always available for help. Very nice man who cares about his students. There are no tests just take home assignments. However, the lectures and easy examples given in class do not prepare students for the tough home work assignments. The optional textbook doesn't align with class material. For certain reasons (maybe the professor's speaking style), most of my classmates get sleepy in class. Although it doesn't mean the professor isn't passionate on teaching (at least I don't know), this course is not as exciting or passionate as others. Gustavo may be one of the sweetest men alive but he is proof that just because you have a Phd does not mean you are cut out to teach. Confusing, not accessible, helpless and the phrase "I'm not explaining this well" came out of his mouth too many times. If you have a strong econ background, then go for it! Do you plan on taking Econometrics in the future?? If yes, then don't take stats with him. It'll screw your basics and then you'll fail econometrics too. Its not just one course grade that'll suffer. Gustavo is a very good professor. He is fair and cares about his students. He wants the class to participate, and for those who see college as an extension of high school I would not advise taking this course. This may be the worst professor I have ever had. Prepare to open your wallet -- in order to complete his assignments you will regularly have to spend hundreds of dollars to gain access to the data he requires, and presumably has, but will not provide. The class is not hard, but the way it's set up makes you question life, question the apple that hit newton, question math itself. Man has the same videos from 2020, does NOT respond to emails, and ignored me for 15 minutes on OH (he was on another tab and I screeched into the abyss).
