Professor Sosnik is a great professor and a great lecturer. You will actually learn Biochem material. You will have to put in a bit of work to learn, but its worth it. I have not gotten less than an A in any science class besides a B+ in orgo 2, but I have not been able to find a way to successfully study for this class. If you rely on practice questions to study like I do, I would avoid Professor Sosnik at all costs but if you do take him you might be able to scrape by with a B+. Learned everything myself so I'm not too sure why attendance was mandatory! Oh and the fun thing is that he laughs in students faces when they ask questions and does not give clarity to questions asked in office hours. Prof. Sosnik is a good choice for inquiries. I felt that as long as you show up, participate in presentations, and make a decent effort you could definitely get an A. He's available for 1:1 help, and was open to adjusting grading/questions when some tests were written poorly. Very nice guy but tests were super confusing and did not match recitation or class material. He skips important info in lecture to talk about things he finds interesting which aren't on the test. I think Sosnik gets too much hate. Biochem is supposed to be a hard class but tbh orgo was so much harder. I'm no genius so you can for sure get an A on exams if you go to recitation and do all the practice material. The textbook reading is kind of a waste of time, and there is no homework in the class. I could tell he had a good personality; however, his lectures were TERRIBLE. He lectures on the important material for around 2 seconds and blabs on the not important for the next hour. Currently in his class, however I am on the back end. He is an incredibly knowledgable professor, and is always there to answer questions. However, if you are willing to take the time to listen and participate in class, like many don't, you will find success. He was a very tough professor in the aspect that his tests did not correlate to the lecutres at all, he claimed he was testing higher level thinking but even with proper rational us students were not recieving the points we deserved. he is very vauge sometimes and does not give much direction about the tests (which make up most of your grade).BIOL3611 2025-01-03 22:53:08 +0000 UTC
I've seen people hate on him for being uncaring and lazy, but I wouldn't describe him that way. He seems like a very nice, caring guy who, once you get to know him, can be very personable. The grade is based largely off of exams, but if you do the recitation quizzes (not mandatory), and pay attention in lectures you will be fine. Test are often confusing but the final was made mostly of old exams we took which made it so much easier.BIOL2301 2024-04-24 17:17:47 +0000 UTC
