Prof. Popescu is a very dry lecturer. Unfortunately, he also takes attendance and so you'll need to sit through his boring lectures. You may need to read a bit to supplement his lectures. Good news is his tests are wayyy easier than any practice or homework problems (Homework is 20%). AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Final is cumulative, exams are 70% of the final grade. It is a ridiculously boring class and he is not understanding at all in terms of grading. He doesn't teach well and his exams are all math heavy. Went to every class and still couldn't get an A. I went into this class knowing nothing of python. If you put in decent effort you will see rewards. Definitely mare sure you fully understand the concepts, and utilize the lecture notes greatly! Professor Propescu teaches a variety of different Finance concepts using python. We didn't cover concepts I hadn't seen already but it was cool to see them applied this way. It helps to have some sort of background in coding but you do not need too much because you go over basics. Strongly recommend taking CS/DS classes before this. Half of the semester was on python basics and his way of teaching coding can be very confusing to understand. That being said, he has clear grading criteria, and exams are all practice questions or notes he assigned. Introduction to very tough material (I had no background in python) but feel like I learned a ton of useful information in the class. He isn't the most interesting teacher, but he explains very well and is very willing to assist outside of class hours. Professor Popescu is really sweet and respectful. His lecture is not so American style so there wont be lots of interactions with students, but he instructs really clearly and efficiently.
