Professor Mark for me is one of the best Econ professors in Northeastern. He is very understanding and overall an effective teacher who communicates his lessons clearly. He also invites conversation and is a very chill guy in general. His lectures sometimes gets a bit boring but in terms of grades, it is quite easy to do well. He was a super welcoming professor, although lectures could be a little dry, and all of our tests were open notes. However, 85% of your final grade will depend on test grades. The only thing to watch out for is that sometimes, I would misinterpret his problems and thus, would get points off. Dear Econ Majors, all imma say is his tests are open internet, yes it says on the test that they are open. In addition to that he is an amazing teacher, so even if you don't use the internet and pay attention you will do well on the tests either way. Prof. Hooker is amazing! Yes, his lecture slides are plain/boring, but he is very interesting and knows what he is talking about. There are 2 midterms and 1 final exam (non-cumulative), which are all open note/internet. There's homework every week which can be difficult, but he is an understanding grader. He is not a harsh grader and has no group projects or essays in this course. Only homework and 3 exams. he is approachable and knowledgeable and experienced as a former Fed think tank and Wallstreet, but his lecture is super dry and has more than 50 sides of PPT for each chapter. Professor Hooker is a really smart guy, and you'll learn a lot. 3 exams make up 80% of the grade, but they're all open note making it really hard to get below a 90. knowledgable and nice, at office hours he was helpful and nice. class is all lecture and can be boring but that is largely the subject's fault. He's most interesting when he talks about something off topic or a real life example but it's rare. Took Financial Ec 4640. Weekly, challenging hw best done in a partnership/group. IMO, difficult tests, but that is balanced by his open book/note policy. Prof. H. is a reasonable and approachable guy who welcomes questions from students. The class and homework are similar to the textbook. He was really flexible when I was going through a tough time and did everything he could to make sure I did well in class. His lectures can be a little dull, but he always explains things in detail and connects it to the real world which helps a lot. He's really easy to talk to and eager to help. I took macro theory with him and it was okay. His lectures are very slideshow heavy and the only way I understood the class was from re reading my notes and reading the textbook.
