Very passionate, interesting lectures but can be hard to follow because he uses no powerpoints or anything like that. The final is pretty easy and there is extra credit to boost your grade.ECON1292 2025-12-14 22:21:25 +0000 UTC
Id never take him againecon3290 2022-04-22 17:59:25 +0000 UTC
Smart man. He gives an interesting perspective on global economics- a different one than most Western-World students are used to. He is also quite funny, but his humor is definitely directed towards an intelligent audience.ECON1292 2023-04-19 20:51:25 +0000 UTC
Lectures the whole class and does not give many opportunities to participate. He does not speak clearly or loud, so if you aren't sitting in the first two rows, you will not be able to hear him. He rants and mumbles and tells stories the whole class. Though some of his stories are interesting, nothing ever really has to do with the exams.ECON1292 2022-12-14 03:45:04 +0000 UTC
The reviews here do not give Prof Alam enough credit. This class is a simple A if you have even standard intelligence. . He shits on the US some, but some of it is fair! He goes on long tangents that u don't have to listen to too much. MUCH easier w/info of Macro/Micro. Biweekly tests with questions given ahead of time - that's the grade. Easy.ECON1292 2022-05-09 18:25:36 +0000 UTC
He is very lecture/rant (no PowerPoint) heavy. However, his tests are VERY easy if you prepare for them (a pool of questions beforehand and picks two for the test, 70% of the grade). If you truly don't understand what's going on: READ THE TEXTBOOK, it's a great resource (especially for test prep). Essay is 1000-ish words now too.ECON1292 2022-03-04 15:48:09 +0000 UTC
I strongly recommend taking another class and avoid this one at all costs. I'm not saying the topic isn't interesting, but clearly this class isn't thought well. You have to write a 3000 word paper with very vague instructions. Quizzes are on specific facts that you didn't see coming (not in lecture), thus clearly doesn't show what you've learned.ECON1292 2016-04-22 17:51:02 +0000 UTC
