Dk if he still teaches. Just graduated and looking back, realized Econometrics w Alper was my worst class simply because he was not a good teacher. Prob good at research, but absolutely not there for you. Seems to take enjoyment from giving bad grades. Expects you to know how to use software you've never been taught w/o telling you the expectationECON000 2019-04-10 12:20:33 +0000 UTC
Definitely the worst professor I have had at Northeastern.3560 2014-12-20 19:30:13 +0000 UTC
Alper is a great professor. Very interesting material and he does a great job teaching it. I was always shocked when the hour class was up because it went by so quickly. I highly recommend him. There is a one question quiz every week. He takes the average of those, your midterm, and your final and that is your grade. Not bad.ECON1240 2013-12-01 15:45:11 +0000 UTC
Prof Alper is a harsh grader but if you pay attention in class and study you will do fine. His labor econ class makes you think instead of blindly memorizing and the papers you write are very open ended and force you to take a stand. If you are intimidated by him in class GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He is amazing one on one and will really help you outLABORECON 2013-07-01 21:00:53 +0000 UTC
Professor Alper is one of those professors who may intimidate you on the first day with his "someone has to fail" curve, but he ensures his students succeed and understand the material. Some professors seem to enjoy failure. However, if you fail or did poorly on ANY test or report, go see him during office hours. You will be happy you did so.LABORECONOMICS 2013-04-04 22:49:25 +0000 UTC
GREAT LOVED ITECONCRIM 2011-10-18 01:18:10 +0000 UTC
He is definitely not one of my favorites. He has a bad attitude (which many other reviews have pointed out). I don't understand why he felt it necessary to act like a jerk towards me while at NEU because I don't ever recall having done anything rude to him.ECON400 2011-07-16 15:56:11 +0000 UTC
My least favorite professor at NU- took him for econ of crime and hated it. Not particularly hard but so unpleasant. Avoid him at all costs. He is his own God and avoids answering questions which might call into question his own opinions.ECON1234 2010-11-29 09:46:26 +0000 UTC
easy and very helpfulECO1111 2010-02-01 20:58:46 +0000 UTC
Grades ridiculously hard but the class is easyECNU201 2008-12-23 12:20:21 +0000 UTC
Alper is a good teacher. While he does have a "holier than thou" attitude, he teaches what he expects you to learn and is very straitforward. His tests reflect what is done in class, so attendance is very helpful. He does talk alot about his own work a little too much, but its useful because it is real data.ECNU560 2007-12-24 03:05:23 +0000 UTC
Interesting material and he made it very easy to understand by relating it to real life. Weekly quizzes, but if you show up to class they are easy. Very easygoing and made the class fun. I wish he would have taught my other Econ classes.ECONCRIME 2006-04-04 09:04:17 +0000 UTC
Very intresting class, but if you dont understand economics or havent taken micro or macro yet... wait until you do to take the class. He claims you dont need them but its not trueECONOFCRIME 2006-01-20 16:13:06 +0000 UTC
