Took the Natural Disasters class and it was awesome, but NU doesn't offer it anymore. Owen is a great guy and wants his students to do well. I would take another class with him in heartbeat.SCI1101 2011-12-07 15:24:05 +0000 UTC

easy easy easy.. barely went to class because he puts his slides online. you can teach yourself. DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE BOOK. got an A out of 5 tests because they were so easyENVR1104 2011-07-25 15:33:07 +0000 UTC
This is a good science elective - the goals of the course are clear, grading is straightforward..the professor has lots of industry knowledgeENVR1101 2011-04-15 18:28:46 +0000 UTC
Professor Lawlor is a really nice guy. His tests aren't hard as long as you study for them. All the people who are giving him bad reviews are just angry, because they didn't do well on the tests. He's really funny and his study guides always tell you exactly what is going to be on quizzes.ENV1101 2011-04-08 18:49:16 +0000 UTC
Couldn't say it better :Professor Lawlor was a good professor & passionate. I attended a handful of classes but got A in the course simply because of the chapter reviews. Tests are easy if you study!!! It really helps. Easy course if you're willing to put in a bit of study time (~4 hr/test)Professor Lawlor was a good professor & passionate.ENVR1104 2011-05-11 02:30:27 +0000 UTC

The subject matter is dry at times, but the professor has a great sense of humor. He pretty much tells you what you need to know for the quizzes if you are paying attention.ENVR1101 2011-04-05 21:19:17 +0000 UTC
Boring class. Im not angry at Prof Lawlor even if I got bad grades. He just reads off the power points, and uploads them on BB so dont bother to attend. Just memorize concepts and definitions. If you are not going to go to class, PPTs are not enough, so get the book and read from there. Only 4 quizes no mid or final.ENVR1104 2011-04-14 15:36:09 +0000 UTC
The Power Points can be tedious, but are useful for studying, plus he gives chapter summaries for the text. The examples he uses to explain concepts are based on real expreience and are very interesting.ENVR1101 2011-04-05 13:32:40 +0000 UTC
Do not buy the textbook for this class, it is expensive and you will never open it! Don't bother going to classes because he just monotonously reads off powerpoints which he then posts on blackboard. Study for the quizzes though because they are hard and there are only 4 total so each grade counts. Boring class overallENVR1104 2011-04-01 01:02:50 +0000 UTC
Grade was broken down into just four quizzes - no final. That is nice, but teaching style is horrendous. Literally just reads off his massive powerpoints for the duration of class, which he then posts on blackboard so going to class is pointless. No homework, but you really have to cram for the quizzes when they come up because they cover a lotENVR1101 2011-03-28 23:32:06 +0000 UTC
I hate this class. Do not buy the textbook because it is so expensive and you will never open it! During class he just reads monotonously off powerpoints, way to quickly to take notes though. And he posts them on blackboard so don't bother going to class. Quizzes are hard though so study! Only 4 of them total so it's important to do good on all.ENVR1104 2011-04-01 00:59:46 +0000 UTC
