as a professor for chem major orgo, oye is a GREAT professor-- her lectures are engaging and with organized notes and her tests are SO FKING HARD but as a major, yk this is what i signed up for. i can see how ppl who arent here for chemistry dont like her bc you really have to sell your soul to get an A, but also watching breaking bad in class aha2317 2026-02-03 00:45:23 +0000 UTC
words cannot even begin to describe how much i suffered in her class, you will need to be the luckiest person alive or the next einstein to pass this class with higher than a B+. she claims she is generous with partial credit, I am yet to see it. whoever takes her will be in my thoughts and prayers.CHEM2316 2026-01-11 20:45:28 +0000 UTC

My dad died 3 days before the final & when WeCare reached out to her she said I should still take it. I had to do her homework assignment the night he died. I took an exam with a concussion since she wasn't flexible on extensions. Very cold, people got 8s, 9s, & 11s on her exams. Honestly probably the harshest professor i've ever had. DON'T DO IT!CHEM2312 2025-11-19 13:59:27 +0000 UTC
Professor Oyelaran is very knowledgeable, however exams are not fair and are much more difficult compared to any homework and textbook problems. The class average was consistently between 55%-68%. I have never been spoken to or dismissed by a professor ever before in my life like her. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS with her if you want a good GPA.2311 2025-04-11 18:04:32 +0000 UTC
Genuinely ruined my love for chemistry. I know 4 students who switched majors after taking her course. I tried so hard to do well. I did everything she would tell me to do, but her exams continued to suck. Not only is she a brutal teacher, but she is also a rather rude professor who is condescending and unhelpful. I was genuinely terrified of her.CHEM2315 2025-04-10 20:52:47 +0000 UTC
Terrible grader, a lot of the questions you get right on exams you wont get credit for your work. Notes arent great, lectures can be confusing, very condescendingCHEM2313 2025-02-25 23:33:33 +0000 UTC
LOVE Oye! She is the best prof. I've ever had. So inspiring and knowledgable, time with her is always enjoyable. Her class is hard, but she definitely gives you what you need to succeed. The exams were brutal, and all practice problems must be done for any chance of success. Huge time commitment, but I found the class very fun and learned so much.CHEM2317 2024-12-05 05:25:53 +0000 UTC
I had her for orgo1. I was so nervous going into the class because I heard the horrors of Organic Chem. She made the class interesting and easy to follow. She even provides outlines of her notes! To do good in the class, you really need to do practice problems and study her notes.CHEM1 2012-01-09 21:30:12 +0000 UTC
Tests are similar to textbook problems and review sessions. There weren't any questions that were a surprise, and nothing on exams stood out as harder than anything I had seen on practice problems. Chads Prep Orgo playlist on YouTube was very helpful.CHEM2311 2026-01-28 21:02:10 +0000 UTC
GO to class, and office hours!2317 2014-12-05 03:32:14 +0000 UTC
Professor Oyelaran is THE BEST organic chemistry professor that I know of at Northeastern. She is an amazing teacher and explains everything well. Her tests are challenging, but not impossible. She can be a little intimidating in office hours, so make sure you have good questions prepared when you go that you absolutely cannot find the answers to.CHEM2316 2013-11-18 14:54:07 +0000 UTC
Already had past trauma from Sadie Piatt and now I have her. its not funnyORGO1 2025-11-20 05:39:18 +0000 UTC
Professor Oyelaran was the best teacher I've had at Northeastern University! I had her both for organic chemistry 1 and 2, and each semester she was extremely effective and taught the material amazingly well. She focuses on having you understand the principles over memorizing them. You learn the material a lot better that way - A+ professorCHEM2312 2012-05-09 22:17:42 +0000 UTC
