He is 100%a a tough grader and you can't even imagine where you lost your points. I only missed 1 class and participated in other classes then I received a C for participation. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE A PATHETIC LIFE LIKE MINE. Professor Andersen is easily one of my favorite professors at Northeastern. He will do everything in his power to help you succeed in the class and he is very approachable. Prof Andersen is a super tough grader! This class is basically all group work and tonsss of presentations. Get ready to read the entire textbook in order. To get full points on the weekly discussions, you'll need to write the equivalent of a four page paper with multiple cited sources. No question the worst professor that I have had at Northeastern. His lectures are absurdly boring and he reads and teaches directly out of the textbook with no contextual references to help you understand the material to a greater extent. Prof Andersen is definitely one of my favorite professors. If he likes you then the class is more enjoyable so get on his good side and participate in class. A lot of reading articles for homework and the quizzes are pretty difficult. He's also a tough grader but provides feedback when asked. WOW, I can't believe I actually paid to go to class. He is like nightmare personified, instead of actually teaching, he just reads the text book out loud for EVERY SINGLE CLASS. Professor Andersen is a good guy at heart. He is dry when you first get to know him but has a good sense of humor - get on his good side early and life will be easier in the class. It can be frustrating as Andersen grades harder than most professors. Lectures are dry and lazy; he reads off of textbook provided slides for part of the class, and for the remainder, he asks a series of trivial questions that he drags out for the sake of participation grades. Does not really use peoples names and does not give individualized feedback, but at the same time will be happy to help if anyone asks him for help. Fairly easy grader, and is super chill about going over grading with students and giving more marks. I can't tell you how he has good reviews but he was horrible for me. Just read off slides that came provided with the textbook. The final was supposed to be on chapter 15, 17, 18 and he tested us on 15, 19, 20.
