Participation matters a lot. My advice is to participate early on as he tends to call on the same students. If you don't engage in class, he will call on students or ask them to meet with him after class. Sean is a great professor. He wanted all of his students to succeed but you have to put in the work. He cares a lot about his students & really cares about the learning process & their development. I had the pleasure of having Sean for two semesters. He was an amazing prof! Participation is crucial in order to get an A and he can be a tough grader at times. But with that said he makes the classes fun and he's very knowledgeable in his field. This class is entirely discussion based, which was not what I expected at all. You have to learn everything on your own from readings and assignments, because nothing is actually taught in class. Sean is a great professor. He wanted all of his students to succeed but you have to put in the work. The course is extremely reading heavy so make sure that you come prepared for class. The class is discussion based with a short lecture at the end so it's important to have points ready to share from the reading. He's a top-notch discussion facilitator and genuinely cares about students' learning. Extremely knowledgeable and shows great enthusiasm for the material. Reasonable workload: 4 written assignments, 1 final project and discussion prep. I was nervous to take this course since I am a numbers person, and marketing is the opposite of that. It was a lot of work (nightly reading, big group project, biweekly exams). I thought it was tough, but grading was fair. BEST professor I've had at Northeastern. At the start of the semester, when he says the course will be hard, you should believe him. There are readings due before every class, and you need to do them bc participation is graded. Great professor! Sean knows his stuff. If you're interested in marketing, this is the best class to take. It's discussion-based, so readings are important. Homework is time-consuming, but the effort shows in your grade. Quizzes are frequent, lockdown, take-home, and tough, but he scales to a B+.
