Great dude. It's necessary to pay attention in class and write everything down because a lot of the test questions are definitions that he says in his own words. Also attendance is mandatory. Lectures were over complicated and under explained. Took AP stats in high school and somehow that did not help at all. Homeworks come from textbook but he rarely teaches straight from the textbook. The whole class was a mess. He expected us to know STATA without teaching it. He overcomplicated the math while repeatedly getting the problems wrong. Then for the tests he would tell us exactly what was on it, because no one knew the material, then he would forget a part and we'd get points off because of it. Prof Roy is great for any class. He is very clear on what will be on the exam so you don't waste precious study time. The lectures are interesting, attendance is required but it really isn't hard to show up to class. 3 exams + a final but that means everything is weighted a little less. Prof. Roy is awesome. His econometrics lectures were more than bearable at 8am, he was a very fair grader, and there wasn't a ton of homework. Most of the course & grade is based around a research paper that is spread throughout the semester. If you end up with Roy, you will be happy. I took online. Canvas was very organized. Work is posted weekly and is manageable. He's understanding and flexible. His projects use ChatGPT which was very interesting.
