He's one of those professors whose enthusiasm for a subject wears off on you, and you find yourself excited about something as basic as intro stats. His class is lecture-heavy, but so engaging that time flies by. I had him for INSH 6500 which is Statistical Analysis as an in-person class. I did not have a good experience with him, most of the homework took me anywhere from 3 to 6 hours for a maximum of 5 questions. Also, the projects were not good either. Shantanu is a really good prof who cares about you and wants you to do well and will do everything he can to help you get there. His lectures are engaging and is very open to questions. He is one of the best-balanced professors I've taken. Assignment due dates are clearly communicated. The workload is well-structured and manageable. His video lectures are light. The assignments are clear and well-organized, and he gives detailed instructions along with a grading rubric for all writing assignments.
