Easy to get an A, all of her assignments are group based with 3 exams 70% individual and then taken again with your group for the other 30%. Class is a waste of time to go to with busy work and attendance taken only at the beginning of the semester. Take home final online, but read the textbook, her lectures are uselessBIOL3611 2025-12-16 22:23:05 +0000 UTC
Great class. Loved the lectures - very engaging and informative. Very clear in explaining topics, and was always willing to clarify points of confusion. The tests are hard to prepare for, as she tends to ask questions about seemingly unimportant details from the text, which are not mentioned or emphasized during class.BIOL2321 2009-12-18 13:25:12 +0000 UTC
I agree that this class was mostly molecular biology. She squished everything else about microbes in at the last minute which was exceptionally disappointing. She's a nice person, but her tests are confusing and the lack of feedback make them difficult to study for. Do not take microbio with this professor.BIOU321 2009-04-18 18:33:56 +0000 UTC
Genuinely so disappointed. Not only are the lectures useless, but she is grading every assignment the night before grades are submitted and making countless mistakes. Read the textbook, teach yourself, and be prepared for awfully written exam questions. Not hard to score well, just a disappointing course overall.BIOL3611 2025-12-16 02:17:00 +0000 UTC
Dr. Godoy is clearly very interested in the topic, but most of the class is just learning about genetics and molecular NOT microbes! So If you have had biochem or molecular be prepared for a giant review. Tests are confusing and worded weird. She is very nice and helpful though, just hard to understand at times.BIOU321 2009-04-01 11:25:58 +0000 UTC
The lectures were not hopeful at all. Each class, she goes through a set of slides and assigns discussions that are unhelpful to learning. She is horrible at lecturing, spends a lot of time of the useless material and breezes by the useful topics. The exams were online and consisted of an individual and group portion.BIOL3611 2025-12-08 19:25:02 +0000 UTC
I would recommend reading the textbook and teaching yourself for the exam. Professor lectures on a few diagrams during class, then gives you unrelated group work. Seems like a sweet woman, but not an effective professor at all.BIOL3611 2025-02-16 01:53:12 +0000 UTC
Prof Godoy-Carter is a nice person but a horrible lecturer. She spends a lot of time discussing topics that aren't even on the exam but does not touch on important concepts. She also isn't helpful with questions in class. The tests were online and difficult but doable. Only way to do well is to read the textbook and learn yourself.BIOL3611 2024-11-01 06:48:16 +0000 UTC
She does not teach, her lectures have mandatory attendance but she does not teach anything meaningful. Her exams and quizzes have awfully-worded questions where you cannot even decipher what she's asking of you. Buy the textbook and read it on your own. Not a tough class to do well in but she is god-awful.BIOL3611 2024-10-16 18:21:12 +0000 UTC
You take all of the tests twice, once individually, and once again with your group. You are graded 70% for the individual portion and 30% for the group portion. The test questions often have typos/ are badly worded. She's not a great lecturer, but if you use all of your resources (textbook, achieve, TA lectures), it's an easy A.BIOL3611 2024-04-18 17:57:17 +0000 UTC
The wording of some questions on exams and such were a bit difficult to understand, but other than that an easy A for Biochemistry! Exams are remote, and are weighted 70% on the individual portion you do at home and 30% retaking the exact exam in groups that are assigned.BIOL3611 2024-02-28 17:09:34 +0000 UTC
The tests are graded 70% individually and 30% with your group. The final individual is online outside of class and the final day is with the group. Bad wording but not terrible. READ THE CHAPTERS!! The only way you will pass is by reading and attending class. If you do that you will do good!! There is a small extra credit achievement assignment.BIOL3611 2023-04-12 14:16:12 +0000 UTC
The professor is a very nice person and truly cares about student success. She is very open to feedback, so while the course was disorganized at first she listened and adapted and by the end, it was truly fun and interesting. She makes up for bad test questions, removing them from counting if people have issues with them.BIOL3611 2022-12-11 20:22:50 +0000 UTC
DON'T take if you can avoid. She means well as a person (I think), but she's disorganized, confused, and does not teach at all. All her quiz/test questions are badly worded and open to multiple interpretations. This class is easy to fall behind in bc you never know what's going on. She tells us certain things and then does the exact opposite.BIOL3611 2022-10-25 03:37:04 +0000 UTC
Don't take this class if you can avoid it. I wish I listened to the reviews. Super nice lady, but she does not teach, you teach yourself everything. Test questions are poorly worded. She won't take responsibility for poor wording/multiple interpretations when every single person in the class agrees. She blames the students for not studying enoughBIOL3611 2022-09-28 03:00:02 +0000 UTC
