the best prof ive ever had at northeastern lecture can be difficult at times but he makes it easy and his notes r so easy to understand, the exams are exactly like the practice exams and he gives extra credit just for going to classDS3000 2026-01-15 20:02:59 +0000 UTC
My king, my knight in shining armor Professor Wu is the best professor at Northeastern. He makes it so easy to learn, no reading the textbook just show up to class, do the exercises and you get extra credit. He not only teaches you the concepts but also the code really easily with entertaining stories. Exams and coding exams are easy if u practice.CS4400 2025-04-27 07:36:11 +0000 UTC
Absolute beast - lots of work but pays dividendsDS4400 2025-04-21 21:08:49 +0000 UTC
Very enthusiastic prof who is highly dedicated to making sure students get the most out of class. Lectures are well-paced, organized, and challenging enough to keep students motivated. Also goes out of his way to create additional helpful videos. Grading is fair as long as you put effort in. Overall enjoyed taking the class and highly recommend!!CS2810 2023-12-15 22:55:25 +0000 UTC
You just gotta go to the lectures and be ready to learn the math. The three tests do weigh a lot, but if you know how to do everything on the practice exams, you are all good. Good professor, and it's clear he cares about students and whether of not you actually learned. The class is super fun, but don't pick him if you want an easy class.DS3000 2025-12-31 03:42:28 +0000 UTC
I served as a TA for Prof. Wu for two semesters. He is an exceptional professor who teaches concepts from scratch and inspires his students. Creating solutions and hosting office hours deepened my ML knowledge, helping me navigate the job market and secure a Data Scientist role. He is simply the best!CS4400 2024-11-24 12:41:53 +0000 UTC
Prof Wu is kind, inspirational, very knowledgeable and clearly cares about his students. Had a wonderful experience in his Machine Learning & Data Mining class. Prof Wu strikes a good balance b/w the mathematics behind common ML algorithms, how to code them in Python, and where they are used in the real world. Would rate 6 / 5 stars if I could.DS4400 2025-04-06 20:33:40 +0000 UTC
Honestly I took the course with Prof Wu because of his high rating, but honestly I regret it. The other teacher for the course is basically a free A, but you don't really learn as much. In this course you do need a 97% for an A which can make it a little tough even though there is about 4% extra credit if you just go to lectures. Great prof though.DS3000 2025-12-22 20:25:46 +0000 UTC
Great professor and very knowledgeable. Explains what looks like complicated topics in machine learning that involve math, in a way that you develop a deep understanding on what's going on underneath the hood. It is very rewarding when it all clicks and you understand how the given machine learning algorithm works. Highly recommend him!CS4400 2023-12-18 04:47:17 +0000 UTC
His lectures/content can be intimidating but his tests are easier than expected. Memorize the practice exams! He is very friendly and explain things well.DS4400 2025-03-14 19:57:32 +0000 UTC
Incredible professor, truly wants you to succeed in every way. Lectures make understanding content easy because of how he relates it to tangible contexts. Extra credit all over the place, exams are carbon copies of practice tests. Genuinely one of the best math professors I've ever had. Places big emphasis on linear algebra and matrix calculus.DS3000 2025-12-17 00:04:27 +0000 UTC
Moderate difficulty, math-intensive. Prof. Wu emphasizes deep understanding of ML concepts, not just using libraries. Balances written and coding tasks; effort yields significant learning. Ideal if you care about getting a very deep understanding of machine learning; consider another professor for an easier experience. Prof Wu cares about students.CS4400 2023-12-17 17:28:25 +0000 UTC
Written exams could be harder. But overall I learned a lot.DS4400 2025-02-11 15:29:55 +0000 UTC
THE GOAT. tests are super easy and almost a 1-1 copy of review tests, attendance not required but hes super funny and makes the class fun so I recommend you go.DS3000 2025-12-11 23:56:59 +0000 UTC
Wu's lectures were really engaging. I can tell he put a lot of effort into preparing the lectures. The material can be challenging to some students, as they are math-heavy. I personally think this is a good thing. At the end of the day, you need a strong math background to stand out in DS. Prepare your math and you can learn a lot from this class.CS4400 2023-12-17 16:36:39 +0000 UTC
