Dr Gerber is a great professor and teaches the material quite well. The first exam wasn't too hard if you study, however the final exam was brutal - had an insane curve. The project was doable and we had quite some time. Dr.G cares about his student, attendance is not required and he is very approachable and willing to help. Took ds4420 w/ gerber, NOT EASY, we did unfortunately have both a final and a final project, but he graded fair, was actually pretty lenient on the final exam(deserved a 30 and got a 75), and overall a great lecturer. Professor Gerber is one of the best professors I've ever had on the DS track. He taught his classes very well and explained some of the toughest ML concepts so clearly that I didn't really need to do much studying outside of class. Lovely professor. Enthusiastic lecturer. Class was relatively straightforward and he was very clear on what we were going to be tested on and what shows up in exams. Other than 4 homeworks, the assignments and quizzes are extremely easy. He teaches you in a very practical manner. He also has a really cool group project at the end which he grades very fairly. Each lecture & its respective material are meticulously thought-out and display the high level of knowledge that he possesses. Gerb is an outstanding professor. Ive never seen a prof put more time and effort into planning out lectures. He chooses super fun data to work with: Penguins, Sports, and even Overwatch.
