Super chill and caring. Gives credit just for writing your name on tests, I studied 3 hours for each of the 3 tests, and was heavily overstudied for them. You'll learn a bunch. Homework are the only hard thing just take your time and start them a week in advanceDS2500 2026-01-08 20:40:15 +0000 UTC
This professor was a nice guy, but his lectures were SLOW. There would be about 20 minutes of valuable information in each 1 hour and 40 min lecture. However, the class was insanely easy and he gave a ton of bonus points, so it was an easy A. I'm pretty sure this was his first time teaching, so maybe he will change things in the future.DS2000 2025-06-19 17:26:08 +0000 UTC
He was awesome! Cares a lot about his students and has very fair and clear grading criteria. He makes sure that there are opportunities to consult TAs or himself so that you know what's going on. Took the effort to learn almost everyone's name in our lecture, which is impressive for a DS prof. Def would take again.DS2500 2025-12-23 01:39:39 +0000 UTC
10/10 Professor. I didn't expect my any ds professor to care but he have us alot of extra credit. Your final will be a project. Attendance is optional but u should def go. I took this during summer one so it was packed but it was doable. I do have some background coding knowledge but It was easy to understand his lectures.DS2000 2025-06-18 15:18:22 +0000 UTC
Professer Yu is very caring towards his students and about the course content, and he wants to make sure you understand the content. Lectures aren't always engaging and attendance isn't mandatory, but there are opportunities to talk to TAs or the professor if questions come up. Homeworks are hard but he offers regular and late deadlines.DS2500 2025-12-16 20:13:35 +0000 UTC
Great Professor. Gives extra credit and is very caring. He gives surveys each class(for extra credit) and listens to them and adjust based on that. The labs and hw are the hardest part. Overall it's a hard class but he does everything in his power to teach and help u understand. Also plenty of gas ta's to help. Good prof.DS2000 2025-06-11 21:21:45 +0000 UTC
This teacher genuinely doesn't care to give every student an A. He simply just wants every student to get a solid grasp on what it takes to be a data scientist. Labs are easy and make up 20%, homework's are long but manageable, only 3. Theres a final project (26%) at the end that's very time consuming but everyone gets an A. quizzes are final 24%.DS2500 2025-12-10 16:43:46 +0000 UTC
This professor gives an amazing amount of extra credit, and this class is NOT exam-heavy. If you farm all of his extra credit, you are pretty much going to get a good grade in his class. Makes it clear he wants us to succeed. He literally employs 8 TAs so that we can reach out when we need help. Most classes only have 3 TAs max, but not this one.DS2000 2025-06-09 17:55:10 +0000 UTC
The HW in this class is HEAVY, but that's the same for every professor in the section. Deahan is very nice and understanding, extremely knowledgeable, and really wants his students to understand the material and succeed. I would absolutely take him again, he was fantastic.DS2500 2025-12-08 20:42:10 +0000 UTC
Overall he was a decent professor. He often teaches material quickly, and does not always explain everything well. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to succeed since gives numerous chances to earn extra credit points. He is reachable and encouraged students to talk to him with any questions about course material.DS2000 2025-06-04 20:11:37 +0000 UTC
Suuuuper caring guy. Attendance not mandatory, but he'll reach out to you if you haven't attended class to check in if things are okay. Lectures weren't the most engaging but he means the best for all students. Quizzes and homeworks were mostly straightforward with some challenging applications, but for the most part, professor yu is your guy.DS2500 2025-12-08 07:09:02 +0000 UTC
Prof Yu has been very accomodating with our needs, he actually changes teaching style and deadlines on the fly to respond to our feelings in his daily survey. Makes it clear that he wants us to succeed. Sometimes teaches too fast but will always be available outside of classtime to help out. He waives late penalties on submission, very considerate.DS2000 2025-05-16 06:10:50 +0000 UTC
Very caring professor who wants his students to do well. If you do all your work and put effort into the group project you should do well.DS2500 2025-12-07 21:51:28 +0000 UTC
Really Nice Professor, genuinely has one of warmest vibes. The HW can be a lot, and some quiz things are a bit questionable, but overall, it's super easy to get an A in this class if you just put a little work in, and you know basic Python.DS2500 2025-12-07 06:41:40 +0000 UTC
I appreciated how he learned students names who participated in class and went to office hours. Though attendance was not mandatory I recommend going! Very helpful and nice professor and a pretty easy class if you turn everything in.DS2500 2025-11-28 00:09:51 +0000 UTC
