Professor Rachlin is an extremely caring and passionate professor who cares deeply about his students success and understanding. He is extremely flexible on his assignments and any other material which makes the class all the enjoyable. I would highly recommend to anybody taking DS classes to take Professor Rachlin.DS3500 2025-12-05 15:45:13 +0000 UTC
Best professor ever! So understanding and helpful if you get the chance to take DS3200 with him - you have to!! He is so nice and kind that you can't pass up the opportunity.CS3200 2025-04-09 21:09:33 +0000 UTC
Beware goes on tangents that have NOTHING to do with the actual class and cares too much about ascetics than the actual functionality of the code. He is also prone to showing favoritism towards some students and can completely ignore others.DS2000 2024-06-21 00:30:13 +0000 UTC
Rachlin cares a lot about data science and it really shows. That being said, he sometimes forgets that students don't have the same expertise that he does and launches into things that students are not prepared for. The lectures often had little to do with the actual HW assignment material and could often be zoned out in.DS4300 2023-06-28 01:48:00 +0000 UTC
Took an asynchronous, online course with him over the summer. Stupidly easy and he skipped like half the material because we didn't have time. Seems really passionate about what he does and like a great guy overall, but if you can, take CS1800 over the summer.CS1800 2023-05-03 15:46:04 +0000 UTC
Rude and disrespectful. Knows almost nothing about computer science. Avoid him at all costs.CS5200 2023-04-10 20:22:48 +0000 UTC
Rachlin is simply the best professor I have had at Northeastern. His class is perhaps a bit easy, but maybe a better word is just very fair. He is an understanding guy who wants you to understand and is always willing to help. I would strongly reccomend taking classes with Rachlin if you have the option.DS2500 2022-04-08 18:08:21 +0000 UTC
Absolute gem of a professor. Is clearly very passionate not only in his field but also at teaching. Lectures do tend to run a little long but the stories are very interesting (if you listen). There were a few assignments over the semester but if you coded along with him in class they run very similar.DS3500 2025-12-05 15:44:30 +0000 UTC
Prof Rachlin is the goat and his passion is so evident in everything he does. Incredibly kind and caring. His lectures can be slow, but his knowledge and enthusiasm makes that a worthy trade. He shows you how his class is applicable rather than just telling you via interesting HW assignments. I aspire to be as great a teacher as him. 10/10CS3200 2025-04-06 04:51:23 +0000 UTC
awesome. could not be better. no clear so good. U need to put in timeDS2000 2024-04-27 00:11:42 +0000 UTC
DS4300 with Prof. Rachlin was definitely my favorite class I've taken at Northeastern. His lectures focus on topics that he thinks students will find interesting or helpful. He also seems like he genuinely wants to see his students succeed, and will make time outside of class to offer guidance, career advice, etc. Couldn't recommend more!DS4300 2021-04-16 21:04:31 +0000 UTC
Incredible Professor. Explained everything perfectly, and gave enough examples for us to solve any homework assignment. If this wasn't enough, he was very easy to reach outside of the class, and super nice about any questions we may have. Can't recommend enough!CS1800 2021-05-03 04:48:16 +0000 UTC
Prof. Rachlin single-handedly got me through Discrete Structures. Math is a challenge for me and he did everything in his power to make sure that I got through his class with a clear understanding of the material. He genuinely cares for his students, and makes himself available to help them outside of even his office hours. Highly recommend.CS5200 2021-12-20 15:08:11 +0000 UTC
